GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Field Operations Superintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all personnel within the Field Operations Department to ensure a safe, efficient, high-quality, and productive operation aligned with Company objectives. This role is primarily field-based and emphasizes proactive leadership through visible presence, hands-on oversight, and strong communication at all levels. The position is accountable for safe work practices, delivering quality workmanship, promoting teamwork, and achieving strong operational performance results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience within operations in the steel bridge fabrication and/or erection industry and/or precast concrete manufacturing and/or erection industry.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Company-utilized software systems, including Microsoft Office, SAP transactions, labor allocation systems, and Google or Apple-based platforms.
  • High School Diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code Certification preferred (SMAW)
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Certification preferred (e.g., MT, PT,)
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Foremen conduct daily planning meetings and safety huddles.
  • Attend all required safety meetings and communicate relevant safety information to Field Operations personnel.
  • Actively promote and support a culture of safety, encouraging Foremen and Iron Workers to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Execute corrective actions that are assigned from improvement discussions.
  • Enforce Bridge Erection, Bridge Rehabilitation, and concrete structure projects in full compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, PCI, EPA, NRC, AISC, and other governing agencies.
  • Provide direction and leadership to Foremen in achieving individual project goals.
  • Review project performance upon completion and develop procedures, plans, and best practices to improve overall efficiency and execution.
  • Collaborate with Field Foremen to develop weekly manpower requirements, ensuring appropriate staffing levels aligned with project schedules and priorities.
  • Ensure estimated job data is clearly broken down at an operational level, understood, and effectively utilized by Foremen as a planning, monitoring, and performance management tool.
  • Support the Manager of Field Operations and the Project Management Team by providing critical input required to accurately develop monthly forecasts within the SAP system, including both HSE third‑party work and HSE related‑party work.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Field Operations and organizational objectives.
  • Participate in the evaluation of Field Operations personnel performance and contribute to decisions regarding wage increases and compensation adjustments.
  • Keep the Manager of Field Operations informed of operational issues, progress updates, and any significant changes in procedures or personnel affecting the Field Operations organization.
  • Visit vendor and customer offices as required to ensure communication initiatives and project coordination efforts support performance outcomes aligned with High Structural Erectors LLC’s overall objectives and profitability.
  • Conduct job site visits regularly to verify project progress, address operational challenges, and facilitate timely problem resolution in a manner that best supports High Structural Erectors LLC’s interests.
  • Represent and promote a positive, professional image of High Structural Erectors LLC with contractors, customers, and government officials, fostering strong relationships and generating goodwill that supports the company’s reputation and future opportunities.
