About The Position

This is a remote position with travel (75%+) to support projects. The candidate must reside in IL or IA. The role involves providing technical support of specialized systems and product applications including troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure. Responsibilities include programming, configuring, optimizing, testing and documenting complex communications systems, as well as providing weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. Duties may also include performing preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results, and developing solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system implementation, upgrades or support issues.

Requirements

• 2+ years of technical or engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of wired communications systems (LAN and WAN).
• Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance.
• Capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure.
• Knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
• Skills in the use of various communications test equipment.
• Knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits.
• Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Strong self-management and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and self-managed.
• Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
• Current, valid driver's license with no traffic violations.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and/or networking equipment.
• Unique combinations of both multi-site RF communications system and/or computer/networking skills.
• Experience with Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7100), Channel Banks and T1 Circuits, Computer IP Networks and Configuration.
• Pursuing or have at least one network certification (Network+, CCNA, NRS1).
