Position Summary Enchanted Rock is seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to support the execution, commissioning, and performance of natural gas–powered microgrid systems. This role bridges engineering design and field construction, ensuring projects are built safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. The Field Engineer will work closely with Construction, Operations, Engineering, and Commissioning teams to deliver reliable onsite generation solutions for data centers, healthcare facilities, grocery stores, and critical infrastructure customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent field experience).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in construction, power generation, or industrial EPC environments.
  • Familiarity with: Natural gas generators Medium-voltage electrical systems Switchgear and protection systems Control systems and SCADA (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, P&IDs, and construction drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel 50–75% as required by project demands.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft programs such as, but not limited to, Excel, Word, Outlook, and other database related programs.
  • Field Travel required
  • Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses etc.
  • Must be open to training, direction, and constant learning and improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in distributed generation or microgrid systems.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and NEC
  • Exposure to commissioning processes and startup procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow up on incomplete tasks and drive to completion.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and project managers
  • Experience working with customers and subcontractors.
  • Ability to anticipate events and develop adaptive strategies / remedies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite engineering support during construction of natural gas microgrid installations.
  • Review IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings and ensure field installation aligns with design intent.
  • Support civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes including generators, switchgear, transformers, gas systems, and controls.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to resolve technical issues in real time.
  • Conduct quality inspections and verify compliance with engineering standards and contract documents.
  • Assist with equipment installation verification and pre-commissioning checklists.
  • Support generator synchronization, protection testing, and controls validation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues during startup.
  • Document commissioning activities and ensure turnover packages are complete.
  • Maintain daily field reports and track project progress.
  • Identify and escalate design discrepancies or RFIs.
  • Support as-built documentation and redline drawing updates.
  • Assist with lessons learned documentation for continuous improvement.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Participate in job hazard analysis and safety meetings.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all job sites
