About The Position

Our Field Engineers travel throughout the United States to support construction activities at active project sites. As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting field execution by connecting planning, engineering, and construction activities. This is a field-driven position focused on ensuring work is properly planned, ready for execution, and completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. A typical day as a Field Engineer is spent in a field office located on a construction site working alongside craft supervision and crews. You may start the day by reviewing the plan with superintendents, confirming work packages are ready, and addressing any constraints such as missing materials or unresolved RFIs. Throughout the day, you will support field execution by answering technical questions, performing walk-downs, tracking installed quantities, and ensuring work is progressing according to plan. You will also coordinate with project controls and engineering teams to communicate progress, resolve issues, and prepare for upcoming work, ensuring the next day and week are set up for success.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of field engineering, construction, or related experience
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as InEight or similar platforms
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining construction and installation work packages.
  • Basic understanding of construction sequencing, planning, and field execution
  • Candidates with field experience in craft roles, including General Foreman or Superintendent positions, who are seeking to advance their career into field engineering, are encouraged to apply

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Experience in industrial or power generation projects
  • Experience supporting piping, structural steel, or equipment installation
  • Exposure to quantity tracking, productivity tracking, or earned value systems
  • Experience supporting commissioning or startup activities
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (Or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to craft supervision and field crews
  • Resolve field issues in real time using drawings, specifications, and engineering standards
  • Ensure work is installed in accordance with project requirements and quality standards
  • Participate in lookahead and weekly work planning meetings
  • Coordinate with craft supervision to ensure planned work is ready for execution
  • Identify and help remove constraints such as missing materials, RFIs, permits, or access limitations
  • Assist in defining planned work scope and quantities for upcoming activities
  • Utilizing inEight Software, Develop and maintain construction and installation work packages, ensuring they are complete, accurate, aligned with current drawings and specifications, and ready for field execution.
  • Coordinate with Document Control personnel to ensure drawings, work packages, and RFIs are properly uploaded, maintained, and current.
  • Ensure work packages are inclusive of safety, quality, and execution requirements.
  • Verify all prerequisites are in place prior to release
  • Identify and initiate Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Track RFI status and communicate responses to field teams
  • Ensure construction is performed using current and approved information
  • Track daily installed quantities for assigned scope (e.g., piping, steel, equipment setting)
  • Support earned value and productivity tracking efforts
  • Compare planned vs actual quantities and identify performance gaps
  • Communicate production updates to project controls and management
  • Perform field walk-downs to verify work progress and installation quality
  • Identify deficiencies early and support resolution
  • Ensure work aligns with project specifications and standards
  • Incorporate safety considerations into planning and execution activities
  • Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safe work practices
  • Promote a strong safety culture on site
  • Work closely with superintendents, subcontractors, engineers, and project teams
  • Provide clear and timely communication to support field execution
  • Assist in system turnover and commissioning activities
  • Ensure required documentation is complete and accurate for project closeout
