About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Field Engineer for our South Jordan, UT office for projects based throughout Utah. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent degree
  • Engineer in Training or PE license
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction experience
  • UDOT Masterworks Trained
  • Experience on UDOT projects
  • Valid Utah driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bituminous Paving Experience
  • Concrete Paving Experience
  • Direct experience working for UDOT or another firm with UDOT exposure
  • Utah PE license or the ability to become certificated within 6 months of hire
  • UDOT partnering training certification

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress and compare it to baseline schedule
  • Document non compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Supervise materials inspections and testing
  • Prepare and evaluate change orders
  • Coordinate personnel activities, with ability to supervise 3-4 people and experience with UDOT documentation
  • Review acceptance and testing and documentation
  • Coordinate questions and responses with designers including specialty groups (e.g., structures, roadway, traffic and safety, drainage, environmental, OCIP)
  • Assist with the creation and processing of partial and final pay estimates
  • Assist with running various meetings with the crew and contractors
  • Verify that the crews have the required training and certifications
  • Work with UDOT Materials personnel on the sampling and testing and on the inspection of shop fabrication of structural steel, prestressed concrete girders, post tensioned concrete girders and other structural items
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RE
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications
  • Monitor construction for compliance with project documents
  • Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures
  • Assist with business development for the construction management group
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
