About The Position

Provide quality control (QC) and engineering services for the mining and construction phases of the project. Collaborate with the engineering group, operations (underground mining) crews and surveyors in provision of mining and materials technical support. Work alongside the Client’s underground management team to confirm quality and accurateness of construction. Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews; gain comprehensive understanding of design documents. Monitor the execution of various mining and construction practices and inspect and record workmanship, materials and equipment for conformance; capture progress of shift activities including progress measurements in a digital shift report. Constantly learn and support the execution of mining and construction practices with an emphasis on inspecting the quality of the underground work. Organize logistics for data collection and material testing, executing or facilitating QC tests in the field as required. Maintain field notes, monitoring reports and files; conduct and manage testing and instrumentation monitoring and recording; ensure accuracy of all data collected. Document and track equipment and construction cycle times. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; maintain confidentiality; remain open to others’ ideas; communicate clearly and persuasively in a positive manner. Work approximately 95% underground and 5% on the surface although this can vary depending on project needs. Report any non-conformance concerns through the chain of command. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications installation field (e.g. AC and DC power setup, DWDM Optical networking (preferred), IP routing and switching equipment, enterprise or carrier wireless equipment installation, etc.)
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing technologies, standards, and certification requirements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
