About The Position

Southland Holdings company is currently accepting resumes for a highly motivated Field Engineer to join our team in Lake Charles LA/Vinton LA/Beaumont TX Area. This position requiring 0-2 years' with heavy civil general contractor experience.

Requirements

Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience/heavy civil general contractor experience.
Transportation experience is highly preferred.
Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT.
Excellent computer skills and analytical ability.
Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD. Understanding of industrial construction process.
Must have ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings. Knowledge of contract procedures and principles.
Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects.

Nice To Haves

Transportation experience is highly preferred.
Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD.
Understanding of industrial construction process.

Responsibilities

Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals.
Assist in management of project permit process.
Assist is preparation of bid packages and procurement.
Receive and review change orders.
Assist more senior civil engineers with entry level engineering tasks.
Assist with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents.
Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing
releases and reports status.
Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications.
Reviews and processes as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course
of construction are recorded.
Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents.
Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items.
Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers
and contractors.
Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
