About The Position

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers. Our coworkers in General Construction (GC) are responsible for the overhead and underground Distribution and Transmission projects. The General Construction Field Engineering group supports the coordination and execution of this work. The GC Field Engineer will be headquartered in a specific location but can be deployed when needed to accommodate the coordination of priority work throughout the PG&E system. The crews and field engineers are sometimes deployed to where the work is located throughout the PG&E system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management OR 2 years of experience and supplemental education.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License or the ability to obtain one by first day of employment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc).
  • Supplemental education is defined as completing a minimum of 30 quarter or 20 semester units of coursework from an accredited college emphasizing science and engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction or surveying experience.
  • Previous experience with SAP, scheduling, Electric Construction Field Experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate intermediate Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Office skills.
  • 6 months of previous electric construction background.
  • Experience in electric clearance submittals to Distribution Operations Engineer.
  • In Training (EIT) certificate.
  • AutoCAD or hand draft skills, preferably both.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong math and computer skills, strong written and verbal communication, and an attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and approve changes in construction drawings or specifications.
  • Solve simple and complex engineering problems.
  • Layout construction plans.
  • May be required to perform duties as an assistant supervisor when size of project requires.
  • Direct the activities of employees or crews on job assignments requiring construction engineering expertise.
  • Audit work under construction for current construction standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop Project timelines and milestones; perform scheduling and forecasting.
  • Support construction supervisor and foreman by providing technical and engineering expertise in the construction of the project.
  • Inspects and monitors the work of contractors to assure compliance with specifications and plans.
  • Supervises foreman, other field engineers, field engineering technicians, senior field engineering technicians and other similar field personnel.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate range of $51.15 to $76.65, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
