Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 2 years’ of related experience for Field Engineer; 5 years for Principal Field Engineer.
  • An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years experience with field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of systems at customer locations.
  • 2 years experience reviewing and analyzing engineering schematics, supplier design data, and supporting functional test requirements.
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Vehicle operations associated with fielded systems.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access (Law Enforcement Background Investigation).

Responsibilities

  • Support operations and maintenance of the VADER radar system to the Department of Homeland Security (Customs and Border Patrol / Air and Marine Operations).
  • Provide daily operational support: radar operations, intelligence analysis for mission planning, and guidance to air crew to optimize mission collection objectives.
  • Perform daily maintenance support: radar hardware and software checks, troubleshooting radar performance anomalies, and working with engineering team on anomaly resolution.
  • Attend meetings and serve as a liaison between Northrop Grumman, the customer and partner contract teams.
  • Direct interface with DHS site leadership on hardware, software, and operational issues.
  • Assist and develop proficiency with performance of other engineering and operational duties as required.
  • Coordinate and perform system hardware and software upgrades/patches.
  • Conduct fault isolation and component level repairs on defective hardware.
  • Coordinate with site and Northrop logistics for delivery of replacement system equipment and removal of defective hardware.
  • Deploy to sister site in San Angelo, Texas, up to 25% of time.
