As a Field Engineer for Southland's Service & Special Projects team, you will be responsible for performing start-up, checkout, troubleshooting and commissioning of commercial HVAC DDC control systems. Also, could include preventative maintenance and service of DDC and HVAC control systems as necessary or part of scope.

  • Performs maintenance and commissioning of control systems.
  • Installs, replaces and re-commissions control devices, equipment and software.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots software and hardware issues with controls systems.
  • Performs required systems testing- sequence of operation testing.
  • Communicates with internal/external customers via emails, service tickets, reports, commission sheets, etc.
  • Detailed point-to-point check-outs and evaluations of building automation, lighting and access control systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
  • Maintain accurate As-Built shop drawings.
  • Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters and a laptop computer.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and commissioning of software programming.
  • Perform training of building automation systems to customers.
  • Perform job database backups on a regular basis.
  • Complete paperwork on-time, including timesheets, work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of HVAC Controls.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related HVAC controls experience is required for this role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents (shop drawings, mechanical plans, specifications, etc.).
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Construction management experience is a plus.
