The Field Engineer I, II or III is responsible for independently inspecting and monitoring construction activities to ensure completion per the plans and adherence to all specifications and codes required. This position will notify project management of significant issues and complete documentation to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities per project specifications. Employees must develop a thorough understanding of the project scope and schedule as they relate to their specific assignment. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time, with the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US, spending 8-12 months on average per project. The role includes a designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support living expenses, and is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite, as well as a monthly vehicle and phone allowance.

  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on a large-scale wind and/or solar project
  • Determine that construction work is in conformance with the design documents
  • Review tests and inspection reports to ensure that all required tests are completed and communicate all failing tests and/or inspections to the Field Quality Manager
  • Ensure all materials associated with installation are in accordance with approved submittals, purchase order, and product data
  • Perform basic to moderate surveying and necessary measuring to check line, grade and dimensions of roadway, and structural elements
  • Plan and conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC and QA data are properly and accurately recorded
  • Monitor and record all work scope being executed and prepare a comprehensive Daily Report
  • Prevent deficiencies through preconstruction quality control inspection
  • Detect deficiencies and address them in a timely and effective manner
  • Work closely with the Field Quality Manager and site management as the field representative
  • Interface with construction managers to maintain an open line of communication
  • Assist in compiling all necessary information to create operations and maintenance manual(s)/file(s)
  • Assist Logistic Management to ensure compliance with receiving and inventory processes
  • Inspect work and establish and manage punch lists for work completed
  • Assist in managing and maintaining production and extra work authorization log
  • Utilize construction management software for quality inspections and documentation
  • Assist or participate in phase gate preparations or presentations
  • Assist the Field Quality Manager with benchmarking process and job book development
  • May be responsible to mentor and train Quality Inspectors

  • Field Engineer I: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree preferred; High School graduate or equivalent and 2 or more years' experience in related construction field
  • Field Engineer II: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree and one to two years' experience in related construction field; High School graduate or equivalent and three or more years' experience in related construction field
  • Field Engineer III: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree and two to three years' experience in related construction field preferred; High School graduate or equivalent and four or more years' experience in related construction field
  • Must be capable of completing and passing the local or state certified SWPPP inspector program and have working knowledge of SWPPP project management plan
  • Self-starter, organized with strong interpersonal and written skills
  • Advanced computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software packages needed to support documentation and quality records
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage tasks independently
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and technical procedures
  • Ability to write daily reports and document project activities
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface effectively with a diverse group of field level employees
  • Compensation for Field Engineer I: $65,000-$70,000/year, commensurate with experience
  • Compensation for Field Engineer II: $70,000-$80,000/year, commensurate with experience
  • Compensation for Field Engineer III: $80,000-$90,000/year, commensurate with experience
