About The Position

Provide advanced electrical field engineering services for complex, non-routine equipment issues across multiple industrial sectors, including mining, steel mills, power plants, and manufacturing facilities. Work will occur at customer sites and internal service locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 4–7 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial field service or a comparable environment.
  • PLC and industrial drive system experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMI automation systems, and industrial troubleshooting methods.
  • Broad exposure to multiple industrial applications and heavy equipment systems.
  • Proficient in algebra, trigonometry, and analytical geometry.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills.
  • Effective organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical documentation and follow detailed procedures.
  • Capable of making sound decisions on non-routine tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to take after-hours calls.
  • Overnight travel required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mining, mills, power plants, or manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Manufacturer-specific product training preferred.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot vintage and modern control systems, including AC/DC drive systems, PLCs, HMI automation platforms, and Siemens/ABB VFD systems.
  • Perform system setup, testing, calibration, and functional correlation on a variety of industrial drive and control systems.
  • Provide technical support for complex maintenance and repair projects, including work on non-routine or never-before-serviced systems.
  • Use DATAQ data loggers to capture XY recordings; prepare detailed reports and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Maintain tools, test instruments, and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Deliver after-hours technical support both remotely and on-site.
  • Complete accurate service reports, time tracking, and expense documentation.
  • Support on-the-job training and skill development for technicians and field engineers.
  • Ensure required tools and equipment are available and in optimal condition for efficient work performance.
  • Interface with plant engineers, maintenance teams, and operations personnel to resolve technical issues and clarify specifications.
  • Provide technical details and repair scope information to internal teams for quotation development, including required parts and cost estimates.
  • Keep appropriate internal stakeholders updated on project status, customer needs, and technical findings.
  • Participate in identifying ongoing training needs related to repair, manufacturing, and field engineering.
  • Mentor junior Field Engineers and contribute to developing team capabilities.
  • Ensure all completed work meets established quality standards and complies with ISO-based processes.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally with employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Follow all safety procedures and utilize proper PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Operate all equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Uphold a strong professional image and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work standards.
