The Field Engineer - Automotive Customer role at HellermannTyton Corp is primarily focused on driving sales growth by being embedded at the automotive customer site. This position involves developing strong relationships with customers, participating in product development, and ensuring effective communication between the customer and HellermannTyton. The engineer will also be responsible for coordinating design engineering efforts for new or revised products while adhering to corporate policies and maintaining industry certifications.

  • Coordinate with HT Sales for seamless service on the same accounts.
  • Work out of a customer product development facility or the HT Detroit office.
  • Initiate new engineered fastener solutions based on customer needs.
  • Participate in customer team product development as requested.
  • Conduct conceptual design and part modeling using 3D solid modeling CAD.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering to refine concepts and complete designs.
  • Follow procedures to ensure coordinated development with sales and engineering teams.
  • Translate CAD design files between customers and corporate engineering.
  • Complete design specifications and submit to marketing for feasibility review.
  • Create part and assembly drawings and bill of materials as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and check all work under project responsibility.
  • Manage the construction of prototypes when necessary.
  • Communicate professionally with customers throughout the development process.
  • Support the on-time progress of each project in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Draft and communicate DFMEAs to customers when required.
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in engineering, particularly in product development and design.
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills for customer interaction and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with fastener solutions and product development processes.
  • Knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
