The Imaging Field Engineer 2 is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of GE Precision Healthcare's complex medical imaging equipment at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance and patient safety. NOTE: This position requires regional travel to include Bangor ME and points north and south. Relocation is available. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent military training.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience servicing complex medical imaging equipment, preferably with GE Healthcare products.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair intricate electronic, mechanical, and software issues on high-end medical devices.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and IT infrastructure as it relates to medical imaging systems (PACS, DICOM).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in challenging environments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Ability to travel extensively within a designated service territory, including overnight stays as needed.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards for medical devices (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and service management software.

  • The successful applicant must comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test.   • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch or squat, kneel or crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time. Must also be able to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex or extend neck and have good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to be available after-hours and/or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, calibration, and commissioning of a variety of GE Precision Healthcare imaging systems, including but not limited to MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, and PET/CT.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) on imaging equipment according to established schedules and procedures to maximize uptime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, breakdowns, and malfunctions on imaging systems, utilizing schematics, diagnostic tools, and GE service documentation.
  • Execute corrective maintenance and emergency repairs promptly and efficiently to minimize impact on clinical operations.
  • Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on the proper operation and basic troubleshooting of GE imaging equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, in the company's service management system.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring availability for planned and unplanned service calls.
  • Collaborate effectively with sales, applications, and technical support teams to address customer needs and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Adhere to all GE Precision Healthcare and customer safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, HIPAA).
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development to stay current with new product releases, technologies, and service procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Manage travel logistics and expenses efficiently, often involving significant regional travel.
  • Regional travel to include Bangor ME and points north and south.
