Field Directors - Los Angeles, CA About The Outreach Team The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm. We are currently hiring Field Directors to join us on an important and exciting petitioning campaign in Los Angeles, CA. Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local petitioners who will gather signatures from registered Los Angeles voters to qualify an initiative for an upcoming election. This position reports to the Lead Field Director. Additionally, the Lead Campaign Director will manage a team of one or more Deputy Directors, and will be responsible for building an office to scale from the ground up. The Lead Director position reports to the Project Director and the Deputy Director position reports to the Lead Director. The Field Director is expected to lead by example, canvassing in the field while training and supporting canvassers, play a key role in managing daily operations, meeting voter contact goals, and developing future leaders within the team. Locations: Fairfax, San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, CA

Requirements

  • Must have Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team.
  • Eagerness to lead from the front, get into the field and petition several days a week.
  • Canvassing experience, paid or volunteer
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3+ years of experience running paid canvasses or other canvassing operations.
  • Management experience

Responsibilities

  • Work with our recruitment team to find and hire members of the community to work as petitioners and assist voters in carefully and correctly completing the petition.
  • Manage a team of 40 petitioners, setting and driving goals along the way
  • Implement safety protocol
  • Build a database of successful locations for gathering signatures from registered voters.
  • Coordinate petitioning sites for your staff, and work with partner groups to avoid overlapping efforts in the field.
  • Go out in the field yourself several days per week to collect petitions, train staff, and drive office goals.
  • Work with the HR Director on payroll, onboarding and offboarding staff, and managing state compliance.
  • Monitor and train staff to stay compliant with state signature collection requirements
  • Maintain accurate inventory of office materials, petition forms and overall office organization
  • Manage the printing, storage and distribution of unique paid circulator petition forms
  • Manage staff schedule
  • Process and secure physical petition sheets ensuring compliance with legal petitioning guidelines
  • Prepare signatures for final turn in
