About The Position

Ready to make a real impact by combining hands‑on work with next‑generation AI and renewable energy? Obvio, Inc. is a fast‑growing Silicon Valley start‑up using solar‑powered cameras and AI to improve pedestrian safety. Our systems are installed in city streets, campuses and parking lots, and we’re looking for a Field Technician who wants to own the health of these devices within about an hour of College Park, MD.

Requirements

  • Experience in a field‑service, help‑desk, IT support, electronics technician or laborer role. Experience with solar panels, batteries or cameras is a plus. We value self‑drive and determination more than formal education.
  • Strong technical and problem‑solving skills—field technicians need to use and maintain machines and tools and have good attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills so that you can work with customers and collaborate with teammates.
  • Highly organized and analytical with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, manage your own schedule and document work accurately.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within ~1‑hour radius of College Park, MD.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working on uneven surfaces.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; we’re more interested in your skills, attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with solar panels, batteries or cameras is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be the go‑to person for installation, maintenance and help‑desk support of our solar‑powered camera systems. Field technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment at customer sites.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections, perform routine maintenance and replace components to keep our cameras and solar panels running smoothly.
  • Configure and install new devices according to technical requirements and industry standards.
  • Diagnose errors and technical problems—whether they involve batteries, camera hardware, software, IT support issues or the networking that connects our devices. You’ll provide first‑line help‑desk support by responding to alerts, monitoring field service issues and coordinating fixes.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, explain technical information in clear, compassionate language and de‑escalate any issues.
  • Maintain meticulous records of work performed, spare parts used and site conditions. You’ll manage a small inventory of parts in your area.
  • Own your territory – proactively identify challenges, propose solutions and coordinate your schedule based on location, traffic and customer priorities. This role is not a 9‑to‑5 desk job; you’ll often be on the move and occasionally work extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Offer feedback to our engineering team and suggest improvements to hardware or software.
