About The Position

We're seeking a Field Deployment Engineer to be our on -the -ground technical expert at customer sites. You'll ensure robots get deployed successfully—handling installation, hardware maintenance, system configuration, and issue escalation. You'll also build mock production lines at HQ for internal testing and create systems to track and resolve deployment issues systematically. This role combines hands -on robotics work, customer -facing technical support, and process development. Avatar Robotics is building flexible robot fleets to revolutionize industrial work across the country. We're on a mission to make every tedious and dangerous warehouse/factory job virtual, safe, and semi -autonomous. With proven AI approaches and long distance teleoperation, you'll join a team that deploys a physical work solution that's scalable now, not later. We envision a world where millions of machines will make our goods and consumables more affordable and accessible than ever, while critical workers operate these robot fleets from the comfort of their homes. At Avatar Robotics, you'll create the workforce of the future—in one of the largest markets ($1T+ manual labor market in the US alone). We're a small but powerful team at the early innings of deploying thousands of units into facilities worldwide.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in field service or deployment engineering for physical products (robotics, industrial equipment).
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting skills (Linux, networking, debugging).
  • Experience with robotics systems (manipulators, sensors) in production environments.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills to handle multiple deployments and non -technical stakeholders.
  • Self -sufficient, resourceful, and capable of solving complex problems independently in the field.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus: Background in warehouse operations or experience with ROS/robot calibration and ticketing systems (Jira, Linear).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute on -site robot deployments, including installation, calibration, networking, and operator training, while ensuring the customer site has necessary infrastructure.
  • Perform hardware maintenance, repairs, and troubleshoot real -time deployment issues (connectivity, sensors, software).
  • Develop and implement systems for tracking and escalating deployment issues to engineering teams.
  • Design and run validation tests on mock production lines in -house to catch issues pre -deployment.
  • Create scalable deployment runbooks, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
  • Gather customer feedback on robot performance and translate it into actionable engineering tickets, traveling frequently for deployments and ongoing support.
