The Field Data Collector position at NORC involves conducting in-person interviews to gather survey data and physical measures for research on education, health, and aging. This role is part-time, flexible, and requires self-management to meet weekly requirements while engaging with respondents in various settings. The position is project-based, with field data collection expected to begin in February 2025 and end in June 2026.

  • Conduct in-person interviews to gather survey data and physical measures.
  • Meet with respondents in their homes, jobs, or public spaces, often unannounced.
  • Manage and organize work schedule to meet weekly requirements.
  • Collect physical measures such as height and weight, and biological samples like saliva.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Available to work a mix of weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Willing to drive 50 - 100 miles to complete tasks.
  • Must attend a 7-day in-person training session in suburban Chicago.
  • Working knowledge of technology, including computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to navigate multiple aspects of technology and materials.
  • Prior field interviewing experience.
  • Experience in sales, teaching, healthcare, or customer service.
  • Pay rate of $19.50 per hour based on experience and location.
