About The Position

This full-time, 40-hour-per-week Field Coordinator role is for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work on construction sites in Southern Virginia, with minimal desk time. The position involves learning by doing, building a strong foundation in trades and field supervision, and developing a working knowledge of core project disciplines like earthwork, concrete, mechanical piping, and equipment installation. You will also gain an understanding of how key subcontractors, including those specializing in electrical systems, instrumentation and controls (I&C), and HVAC, contribute to complex water and wastewater projects, aiming to develop both technical skills and a comprehensive project delivery perspective.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in field coordination, project management, or a related role
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with standard office software and project management tools
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a team and take direction
  • Basic understanding of construction operations
  • Ability to adapt and problem solve in the field

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
  • Experience working in field operations within industries such as construction, environmental services, or logistics
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to fieldwork
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or related credentials
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) or field data collection technologies

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on construction work and learn basic trade skills
  • Support the Superintendent with daily field operations
  • Assist with layout, quantity takeoffs, and work planning
  • Help coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure they are working off current plans
  • Track materials, tools, and equipment on site
  • Assist with maintaining jobsite organization and safety compliance
  • Support documentation including as-builts, lookahead schedules, and reports
  • Communicate with field teams to identify and resolve issues
  • Assist with quality control checks and identifying additional work
