About The Position

We're recruiting for an experienced Field Construction Technician - DOT to be part of our team providing high-quality Tuff Shed products at our St. Louis location. The role involves safely delivering Tuff Shed storage buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots, as well as performing customer service warranty repair tasks on customer sites effectively and efficiently. The technician will provide feedback to the management team regarding warranty issues and deliver excellent customer service when dealing with current and prospective customers. Additionally, the technician will log on-duty hours using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with Tuff Shed and DOT requirements, inspect DOT vehicles, and report any maintenance needs. The position also includes responsibilities for reporting defective tools and ensuring the vehicle's GPS device remains operable.

Requirements

• General knowledge of the construction industry.
• Basic carpentry skills, basic roofing skills, and basic painting skills.
• Ability to read tape measure, working drawings, and speed square.
• Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools.
• Customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write and understand instructions given orally, in writing and/or in diagram form.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public.
• Basic understanding of building permit requirements for the local territory/region, preferred.
• Ability to use mobile application system(s) for scheduling and reporting.
• Experience driving a flatbed truck, box truck and/or towing trailers, unloading, and transporting materials.
• Experience as a 'big box' delivery driver is a plus.
• Experience with vehicle inspections.
• Must have valid driver's license and acceptable MVR.
• Must pass a DOT physical and have DOT medical certificate.

Responsibilities

• Safely delivers Tuff Shed storage buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots.
• Performs customer service warranty repair tasks on customer sites effectively and efficiently.
• Provides feedback to management team regarding warranty issues.
• Delivers excellent customer service to current and prospective customers.
• Provides support for off-site special events such as Home Shows.
• Assists with management and upkeep of Home Depot displays and marketing materials.
• Logs on-duty hours on provided Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with Tuff Shed and DOT requirements.
• Inspects DOT vehicle before and after trips, logging pre/post-trip inspections.
• Keeps AM/OM informed of service/maintenance requirements on DOT vehicle.
• Reports defective, worn, or inoperable tools to Management in a timely manner.
• Ensures vehicle's GPS device remains connected and operable at all times.
