About The Position

This role is for a Field Commissioning Technician specializing in packaging automation for the food and beverage sector. The technician will be on the front line, installing, commissioning, repairing, and maintaining highly engineered packaging machinery at customer sites across North America. The job involves extensive travel (80-90% post-training) and requires strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to train operators and provide remote support. The company is a long-established OEM that invests significantly in engineering, product innovation, and customer support.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years in OEM technical service, field service, packaging equipment, military maintenance, or similar automation
• Strong electrical troubleshooting across 24V–480V systems
• Ability to read schematics, relays, and circuit breakers; confident with a volt meter
• Solid mechanical troubleshooting aptitude
• Clear, customer-facing communication and professionalism onsite
• Comfort traveling 80–90% post-training
• PLC troubleshooting
• Electrical schematics
• 120/208/240/480 VAC systems
• Motor replacement, repair, and maintenance
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Electrical/electronic systems

Responsibilities

• Install and commission automated packaging machinery at customer sites
• Execute startup, repairs, and preventative maintenance to maximize uptime
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software issues
• Interpret electrical drawings; work safely in low and high voltage environments using a volt meter
• Deliver hands-on operator training and share best practices
• Provide remote phone and connected-system support when travel isn’t required
• Document dispatches, repairs, and outstanding technical actions
• Represent the OEM professionally and build strong customer relationships
