The Field Commissioning Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that electrical systems for industrial projects are installed, tested, and operational according to specifications and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of office equipment, like computers, multi-line phones, printers, and coffee machines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years I&E Tech experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to reach with arms and use tools above/over the head.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to stand (for extended periods of time), walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and twist.
  • Ability to sit, balance and climb ladders, scaffolds and other objects.
  • Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.

Responsibilities

  • Install, setup, start-up and assist with commissioning of switchgears, and related electrical systems customer site.
  • Execute and support electrical commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through functional and integrated systems testing (Level 1 - Level 5).
  • Ensure all commissioning work complies with company standards, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Answer basic customer questions on product features, general use of product and product issues.
  • Interact with leadman, supervisor, customer and other interested parties to perform assigned work.
  • Mentor less experienced field service personnel.
  • Effectively communicate with leadman, supervisor, customer and other interested parties.
  • Awareness and understanding of the company’s policies, procedures, products and services.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of electricity, testing and troubleshooting methods to ensure quality products are conforming to requirements.
  • Read mechanical, structural and electrical drawings.
  • Identify, document, and track deficiencies through closure.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning documentation and support turnover to the client.
