About The Position

Field Chief Technology Officer Position Summary: The Field CTO acts as the technical ambassador of the company, serving as a critical link between customers, partners, sales, and internal engineering teams. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, strong customer engagement, and market insight to drive product adoption, inform and influence product roadmap direction, and support overall revenue growth. In addition, the Field CTO is responsible for overseeing and leading the pre-sales engineering, professional services, and technology practice teams. This includes setting technical vision, ensuring consistent delivery excellence, aligning services with business objectives, and scaling best practices across customer-facing technical functions. Primary Position Tasks: Customer & Market Engagement Serve as a trusted technical advisor to key customers and prospects Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and executive briefings Translate customer needs and industry trends into actionable insights for internal teams Represent the company at conferences, events, and customer forums Sales & Pre-Sales Support Partner with sales teams on complex deals and strategic accounts Support proof-of-concepts, pilots, and solution designs Articulate the technical value and differentiation of products and platforms Help overcome technical objections and competitive challenges Product & Engineering Collaboration Provide field feedback to product management and engineering Influence product strategy and roadmap based on real-world use cases Validate technical feasibility and scalability of solutions Act as a voice of the customer inside the organization Thought Leadership Develop and deliver technical presentations, whitepapers, and demos Stay current on emerging technologies, standards, and competitors Position the company as a technology leader in its market Internal Enablement Train and mentor sales engineers, solution architects, and partners Help define best practices, reference architectures, and technical playbook

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in software, cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise technology
  • Strong background in system architecture and modern technology stacks
  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical leadership role
  • Excellent communication skills, including executive-level presentations
  • U.S. Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pre-sales, consulting, or customer-facing technical roles
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, APIs, security, data, or AI (depending on company focus)
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value
  • Comfortable with frequent travel
