About The Position

SEEL (Solutions for Energy Efficient Logistics) is seeking a Field Assessor / Contractor Training Specialist to support the successful implementation of residential energy efficiency programs through technical field assessments, contractor engagement, and workforce development activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring program quality, installation standards, and contractor performance by conducting field assessments, verifying measure installations, and providing technical guidance and training to contractors and field staff. The Field Assessor / Contractor Training Specialist will work closely with program management, field teams, and contractors to ensure measures are installed in accordance with program requirements, applicable standards, and safety practices. SEEL seeks motivated and dependable professionals with knowledge of residential energy efficiency, HVAC systems, and building science fundamentals. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with program teams and contractor partners. This role requires a results-oriented professional who can combine technical field evaluation with effective contractor training and support while maintaining a positive and professional representation of program partners.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record with the ability to pass screening to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Ability to pass a standard drug test.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the program service territory to conduct field assessments, inspections, and contractor support activities.
  • Training or experience in HVAC systems, weatherization, building science, or residential energy efficiency principles and techniques.
  • Ability to provide technical instruction or guidance to contractors, field personnel, or program staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with contractors, program partners, and customers.
  • Comfortable working in residential environments and engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exercises sound judgment and maintains safety awareness in all field environments.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with program teams and contractors.
  • Able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead when conducting field assessments.
  • Able to learn and work with new technologies, including handheld data collection devices, tablets, and field reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed field assessments of residential properties to evaluate equipment condition, building characteristics, and opportunities for energy efficiency improvements.
  • Perform technical walkthroughs of homes to assess lighting systems, thermostats, heating equipment, water heating systems, and observable building envelope conditions.
  • Verify installation quality and confirm that measures installed by contractors meet program requirements, safety standards, and applicable installation guidelines.
  • Conduct field verification and quality assurance reviews of installed energy efficiency measures to confirm compliance with program standards and technical specifications.
  • Document technical findings and observations through electronic data collection systems and maintain accurate program records.
  • Provide field-based technical guidance to contractors and field staff regarding installation practices, program standards, and energy efficiency best practices.
  • Support contractor onboarding and training activities by assisting with technical instruction, field demonstrations, and program orientation sessions.
  • Monitor contractor performance through field observations and project reviews and provide feedback to program leadership regarding installation quality, adherence to program requirements, and areas where additional contractor training or technical support may be needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting field issues related to equipment eligibility, installation practices, and site conditions.
  • Communicate program goals and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with contractors, program partners, and customers.
  • Travel to residential sites to conduct assessments, inspections, and contractor support activities as required.
  • Maintain field equipment and coordinate with program leadership regarding supply needs and operational requirements.
