About The Position

A hands-on learning experience for individuals who have completed a classroom based mechanical training program. This program includes a combination of minimal classroom courses focused on Freeport-McMoRan policies and procedures and on-the-job training designed to develop selected candidates into highly skilled and professional trade employees. Successful candidates are responsible for hands-on learning and performing maintenance/operations activities with minimal to moderate supervision, or supports Journeymen in their maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Completion of, or graduation from a structured mechanical apprenticeship program, a certified mechanical training institute, or completion of a Joint Technical Education District (JTED) program
• Basic mechanical maintenance principles
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous maintenance experience in an industrial setting

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical maintenance activities
• Perform safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stinger trucks and overhead and mobile cranes
• Perform work area and equipment safety inspections
• Attend required classroom training sessions as necessary
• Perform other duties as required
