FARO is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to work out of a home office and be based in the Chicago, IL Area. The salary information for this position has a compensation package of On Target Annual Earnings (salary + variable pay) ~$110,000. The role involves acting as the resident technical and subject matter expert both internally and with customers, quickly and easily solving prospective applications with the product. The Application Engineer will support Account Managers as the primary technical resource for product and solution demonstrations to end customers, including creating specific demonstration workflows to harmonize and create consistent messages. The position also requires coordinating, scheduling, and providing technical training and support to customers at their site, FARO site, via web, or remote within limited but given standards. Additionally, the role includes providing aftersales application support on FARO products to meet customer-specific business requirements and training customers on correct techniques to achieve expected results from FARO Products.

  • Ensure the quality of the provided technical trainings and demonstrations.
  • Ensure that all customers are served within established timing parameters.
  • Collaborate with other Field Applications Engineers and Support Engineers to test workflows, solve problems, and share knowledge.
  • Document workflows to share globally for internal and external use.
  • Prepare and maintain training equipment (documents, devices, etc.).
  • Collaborate with relevant teams/departments from other disciplines within FARO to convey customer requirements.
  • Act as a backup for the 3rd/4th Level Support within Customer Service.
  • Represent the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, trade shows, etc.
  • Support the organization in decision making by providing relevant information/documentation.
  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, related Engineering, surveying, drafting, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent understanding of 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret information from blueprints.
  • Clear oral/written communications.
  • Good language competencies, English essential.
  • Interpersonal and team skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
