About the Role We are looking for a Field Application Scientist within our Genedata Screener® business unit for our new Chromatics product. This position offers an exciting opportunity to deploy, support, shape, and promote our award-winning new enterprise platform for chromatography data analysis in biopharmaceutical research and development. You will experience a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing global company. As a Field Application Scientist, you will provide expert scientific and technical support for our customers. You will investigate customer workflows and IT infrastructures to understand their needs, design solutions, and manage projects to deliver these solutions. You will also support our sales team with product expertise, scientific presentations, and software demonstrations. This opportunity is perfect for those looking to transition away from the bench and/or hands-on research into a technical support role aiding drug discovery efforts using enterprise software. This full-time position is based at our office in either San Francisco, CA or Lexington, MA and offers the chance to shape, and promote a cutting-edge platform for automating biopharmaceutical research. You will have a high level of responsibility in a growing global company. Up to 20% travel is required within North America and occasional travel to Europe. We are offering a base salary of between $80,000 to $100,000 for this position.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD degree in biology, biotechnology, bioprocess development or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in the Biopharma, Biotechnology or Chromatography instrument industry
  • 3+ years of hands-on chromatography experience, including data analysis, in biotherapeutics development (downstream processing, analytical development) and/or research (protein purification, developability assessment)
  • Hands-on experience with one or more instrument software platforms like Thermo Fisher (Chromeleon) Waters (Empower) Cytiva (Unicorn) Agilent (OpenLab)
  • Excited to understand chromatography data challenges of prospects/customers and to translate requirements into software solutions
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects
  • A motivated and ambitious self-starter who can work effectively within a team
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with analysis of chromatographic data, preferably in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment
  • Experience with a scripting language (preferably Python) and familiarity with UNIX systems is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Provide software demonstrations, training, and technical support
  • Investigate and analyze the needs of scientists in protein production, downstream processing, and analytics departments to frame presales pitches and projects
  • Deliver scientific consulting and professional services for customer projects (e.g. data staging, trainings, requirements consolidation, implementation testing)
  • Act as interface between our internal teams and customer’s cross-functional partners including scientific and IT partners
  • Apply domain expertise in chromatography to define new software functionalities
  • Supporting the marketing team with messaging & generation of material
