About The Position

The Robotics Field Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the MAXIMO solar innovation business at AES Corporation, focusing on the deployment, support, and optimization of the MAXIMO robot in the field. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a production-oriented mindset to ensure the successful operation of robotic systems in solar energy projects. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance efficiency, and maintain a customer-centric approach while contributing to the company's mission of accelerating decarbonization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering, or robotics).
  • Practical experience in field operations, preferably in solar energy or robotics.
  • Experience with programming and configuring robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems for robot control and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of control algorithms, motion planning, and sensor integration.
  • Excellent communication skills and a results-oriented, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to work dynamically and collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machinery issues and make quick decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Monitor the performance of the MAXIMO robot, ensuring smooth operation and uptime, and report any anomalies promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with team members, including developers, engineers, and construction managers, to assist in debugging on-field issues.
  • Ensure that deployed solar sites and modules meet customer requirements and address customer inquiries professionally.
  • Push the boundaries of current capabilities in the field and brainstorm solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor robot performance and perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal operation, implementing software and hardware updates as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, and customer interactions, providing regular reports to management on system performance and field issues.
  • Support the development of MAXIMO operations plans based on project requirements and established schedules.
  • Engage collaboratively with engineering, business leadership, and construction management teams, providing insights and contributing to site improvements.
