About The Position

Special Agent performs standard and specialized tasks and duties pertaining to Gaming Operations inspections, financial audits, compliance audits, and other essential regulatory functions. Special Agent will also conduct investigations and inspections pertaining to gambling violations and administrative controls violations. As regulatory agents of the Puyallup Tribe, the Special Agent may assist law enforcement in the investigation, apprehension, arrest and prosecution of violators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and two years related gaming experience in Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, etc., as a Tribal Gaming Agent, Surveillance Observer or Law Enforcement experience required; or demonstrated satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge using word processing and spreadsheets (i.e. Word for Windows, Excel, etc.) required.
  • Demonstrated experience in gaming investigations and report writing required.
  • Interviews will include a test of knowledge.

  • Must have a valid and unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License. Driver’s License must not contain any restrictions that would otherwise prevent an employee from driving a GSA vehicle.
  • Must submit to and be able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment and periodically throughout employment.
  • Must successfully complete a computer skills, gaming knowledge, and report writing test as part of the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Protect assets of the Puyallup Tribe by proactive regulation.
  • Inspects licensed gaming operations for compliance with gambling rules and regulations. Follows guidelines for established compliance inspection procedures.
  • Observes gaming premises, Licensees and Vendors conduct by following compliance checklists of gambling operations for adherence with NIGC MICS, Tribal-State Compact through live, documented and recorded observations.
  • Acts as a representative of PTGA by establishing and maintaining a professional rapport with licensees, the public and law enforcement/government agencies.
  • Observes, promptly reports and documents activities that may be of an illegal nature and of interest to other law enforcement agencies.
  • Performs required inspections. Reviews internal control systems, policies, procedures to determine compliance. Reviews and evaluates operational record keeping and control systems to determine compliance with the Tribal-State Compact, NIGC MICS, Internal Controls and Policies and Procedures. Reports and documents irregularities as violations to the proper personnel promptly.
  • Responds promptly to calls where an Agent is requested.
  • Follows procedures for chain of custody regarding evidence in criminal or administrative hearings.
  • Communicates and cooperates with local, state and federal authorities during investigations for audits where evidence of fraud or illicit activity is suspected.
  • Conducts regulatory investigations and assists Law Enforcement with criminal investigations relative to NIGC MICS, Tribal-State Compact violations and violations of regulatory or criminal nature.
  • Writes accurate and timely Incident Reports and Daily Logs using iTrak or other approved database management systems.
  • Performs PTGA Permanent Exclusions and Barrings.
  • Observes and is present at Gaming Operations’ Permanent, Limited Suspensions and Self-Exclusions.
  • Collects all documentation and media associated with Incident Reports for iTrak entries.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters of PTGA Regulation and Reporting.
  • Approves the release of evidence to Puyallup Tribal Police Department or other approved Law Enforcement Agencies.
  • Takes initial complaints from patrons for dispute resolution and forwards to appropriate Supervisory personnel.
  • Assists in Administrative Interviews of Licensees if directed or approved.
  • Performs service of Gaming License Revocation and Suspension notices per Gaming Code, if instructed.
  • Works with all Gaming Operations’ Departments in daily and routine tasks required per Tribal-State Compact and NIGC requirements.
  • Performs and observes Cards & Dice inventory and destruction.
  • Perform Gaming device/machine/equipment compliance and integrity inspections to technical standards.
  • Issues and documents replacement Gaming Identification Badges.
  • Approves Surveillance camera coverage when needed.
  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled compliance audits and/or inspections as assigned.
  • Documents and reports Environmental, Public Health and Safety issues or violations per NIGC and Tribal-State Compact.
  • Actively monitors and accompanies scheduled and unscheduled/emergency drops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
