About The Position

Smoker Craft, Inc currently has an opening for Fiberglass Grinder! This position works from our plant in New Paris, IN. Fiberglass Grinder’s starting pay is $22.35/hr. and with positive reviews can be increased to $24.35/hr after 60 days. After the first week of work, employees are eligible for an Attendance Bonus averaging an additional $100/month. Shift Schedule is 5 am to 1:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in fiberglass grinding, manufacturing, or a related field (e.g., auto body) is typically preferred, though on-the-job training is sometimes provided.
  • Skilled in using power tools, pneumatic tools, and diamond saws.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to detect and fix surface defects.
  • Capable of standing for long periods (8-10 hour shifts), bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work in a dusty/noisy environment while wearing required PPE, including respirators, goggles, and hearing protection

Responsibilities

  • Smooth rough edges and surfaces on de-molded parts using grinders, sanders, and other abrasive tools to meet quality standards.
  • Trim excess fiberglass material from the edges of boat hulls and decks.
  • Use tools to make necessary, precise cuts and holes for hardware installation (e.g., cleats, hatches) based on blueprints or templates.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects such as voids, cracks, or air bubbles (air pockets) before and after grinding.
  • Apply fillers, putties, or resin compounds to repair minor surface flaws for a smooth finish.
  • Maintain and clean handheld and stationary grinding equipment (3", 5", and 7" grinders) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain a clean work area, manage dust control, and strictly adhere to all safety protocols (OSHA).
