About The Position

The Fiber Technician position at Peachtree Broadband involves the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables within a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. This full-time role is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of fiber optic systems and requires a commitment to safety and quality work.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in Fiber Optic installation (preferred)
• Fusion splicing/terminations FOA Certification is a plus
• General knowledge of OTDR and Light Source and Power Meters
• Ability to read splicing matrix and design drawings
• Good motor vehicle driving record
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Ability to interact with customers, vendors, contractors, and other required personnel
• Commitment to safe work practices

Nice To Haves

• Experience with a 28' pole ladder
• Pole climbing experience preferred
• Familiar with splice drawings and OTDR test sheets and reading traces
• Cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities

Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of a Fiber Optics FTTH network
• Install, repair and resolve fiber optic systems and ensure that they work properly
• Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
• Splice and terminate single-mode (SM) fiber
• Perform basic to complex installation, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber systems under minimal supervision
• Access the fiber optic splice enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a bucket truck
• Perform fiber tests including OTDR, power meter/laser source, and scopes
• Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to large counts as well as perform ring cuts when needed
• Install demarcation enclosures, switches, and other telecom equipment
• Demonstrate fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities
• Other duties as assigned
