Alamon Inc is seeking an experienced Fiber Technician to become an integral part of our team! Primary responsibilities will include splicing and testing fiber spans both ISP and OSP under the guidance of the field supervisor. Candidate will be responsible for cleaning and inspecting fiber. Candidate will need to be able to identify out of spec splice points and re-splice them should customer ask. Candidate will provide supervisor with timely updates and relay any information. Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required. This job requires 95% traveling position.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
  • Possess a current/valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI/DWIs within the past 5 years.
  • Applicants are required to pass company drug testing, submit to a background check, and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by the company as required.
  • Experience with OTDR and Fusion Splice Machine.
  • Self-motivated.
  • High-quality workmanship oriented.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more.
  • Must be able to traverse and work in all areas of the job site. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.

Responsibilities

  • Run the following Fiber Characterization tests Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR).
  • Chromatic Dispersion (CD).
  • Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD).
  • Optical Return and Power Loss (using OLTS).
  • Identify out-of-spec splice points and jumpers.
  • Work with customer should they want them fixed and re-spliced.
  • Scope and clean fibers to ensure they are clean.
  • Fiber splicing Loose Tube.
  • Ribbon.
  • Both ISP and OSP.
  • Run fiber jumpers between panels.
  • Keep accurate detailed notes.
  • Document Fiber Panels.
  • Meet or exceed customer and internal documented acceptable levels of quality.
  • Work with supervisor for scheduling and updates.
  • Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
  • Field train and control/oversee the work of other technicians when necessary.
  • Complete daily production reports, keep track of work hours.
  • Frequently work independently.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
