The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing, and splicing. This role involves various tasks related to cabling, termination, testing, and splicing of fiber optic cables, ensuring adherence to company standards and safety protocols.

  • Install and terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks.
  • Mount faceplates and surface mount boxes correctly.
  • Build closets including mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
  • Complete all IDC connections including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of horizontal and riser cable.
  • Install various types of fiber connectors for both multimode and single-mode fiber.
  • Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord and outside plant fiber.
  • Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
  • Complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Test using an OTDR and troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems.
  • Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable.
  • Act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representatives.
  • Promote the Company culture and mission.
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be proficient with listed tools and terminating all connector types for SMF and MMF systems.
  • Experience with Testing & Troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems (OTDR & PMLS).
  • Must meet IES driving standards policy.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Fiber.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must have your own Truck, Van or SUV.
  • Extensive knowledge of all CATV equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturers' manuals for electronic equipment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Fiber.
  • Industry Certifications (Corning/FOA).
  • Data Center installation experience.
  • Mechanical and Fusion Splice experience.
  • OSP / Confined Space Entry experience.
  • Competitive salary ranging from $25.00 to $32.00 per hour.
