About The Position

The Fiber Optic Technician Apprentice position offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop valuable skills in fiber optic technology under the guidance of experienced professionals. The Fiber Optic Technician Apprentice will assist with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems while receiving comprehensive training and mentorship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interest in technology and a desire to pursue a career in fiber optics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from experienced technicians.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and working at heights.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience or coursework in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in fiber optic installations.
  • Certification or training in fiber optic technology from organizations such as the Fiber Optic Association (FOA) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced technicians with the installation of underground and aerial fiber optic networks.
  • Learn and follow industry standards and best practices for fiber optic network installations and maintenance.
  • Help prepare and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for fiber optic projects.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and performance of fiber optic systems.
  • Assist in documenting fiber optic network installations, modifications, and repairs accurately and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with fiber optic equipment and installations.
  • Attending training sessions and educational workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in fiber optic technology.
