About The Position

The Fiber Splicer is responsible for safely and efficiently splicing fiber optic cables across multiple projects while adhering to customer standards. This role involves troubleshooting issues in the field, maintaining fiber optic facilities, and reporting on job completion, including field notes and test results. The position requires working in various environments and conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and may involve long hours and travel.

Requirements

• Approximately 2 years or more of fiber optic splicing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Possession or ability to obtain a valid state driver's license within two weeks of employment.
• Ability to read prints and be familiar with RUS units and redlines.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
• Owning fiber optic hand tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Splice loose tube and ribbon cables with thorough knowledge of construction, grounding, and sealing of various fiber cables and case types.
• Maintain the quality of fiber cases for future splice work and customer needs.
• Arrange work environments such as trailers, vans, and tables for splice work.
• Utilize fiber optic hand tools and fusion machines for splicing tasks.
• Conduct optical testing with specialized equipment for diagnostics and testing requirements.
• Read and understand job prints, CAD, and splicing schematics for various customers and project types.
• Manage multiple splicing jobs with timelines and communicate updates to telecom supervisors.
• Collaborate with other splicers for large cutovers and emergency work.
• Drive, load, and secure all equipment in a truck with a splice trailer or splice van.
