At MasTec Communications Group we build for the future. Yours and ours. Seeking a qualified candidate for Fiber Splicing position for the Atlanta market. This position requires a high level of experience with outside plant fiber networks (understanding prints, splicing, troubleshooting etc.) along with a familiarization of OTDR/OLTS testing. The ideal candidate will have experience with prepping OSP cables ranging from 96ct to 1728ct including midspan/ring cuts on active networks. This role also has a very important need for accurate documentation of work performed not only for billing purposes but also for accuracy within 3GIS records.   • You have 3 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
  • You are an expert in fiber engineering and have knowledge of fiber equipment (i.e. fusion splicer(ribbon and loose tube), test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310nm, 1550nm, 1625nm, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter, traffic identifier)
  • You enjoy problem-solving and like to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
  • You embrace the challenge of coaching and mentoring your team
  • MOS Codes V80B, B05A, 3D157, 6423, 5699 relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
  • Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
  • Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
  • Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
  • Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
  • Work in outdoor utility construction sites
