About The Position
Install and maintain fiber optic cables as well as provide technical assistance in the design and testing of fiber optics.
Requirements
- Prep, dress, and store fiber optic cabling to specifications and assemble equipment according to design specifications
- Prep of armored non-armored cables, ribbon and loose tube fiber and mid-sheath applications
- Perform live fiber cut-overs during maintenance hours
- Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
- Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, power meter and OTDR, VFL and Traffic Identifier
- Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required
- Working knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of fusion machines, OTDRs, power meters and tools of the trade
- Knowledge of underground and aerial line engineering/construction
- Knowledge of telecommunications
