About The Position

The LINX Fiber Specialist is responsible for the installation, preparation, termination, splicing, troubleshooting, and testing of fiber optic cables on network cabling projects. This role involves working on various projects to ensure high-quality and efficient fiber optic network installations. The Fiber Specialist also supervises, manages, and trains other team members in fiber optic technologies and best practices, ensuring that all work meets industry standards and LINX quality requirements. Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience in fiber optic cable installation, termination, splicing and testing.
  • Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment, such as OTDRs, power meters and light sources.
  • Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA CFOT) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to supervise, manage, and train other team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to ensuring quality and safe installation practices.
  • Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools; ability to lift/carry/setup a50 poundbox or ladder
  • Must own low voltage tools, snips, cable strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as needed; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must pass 7 year criminal background check and pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and current automobile insurance
  • High School diploma, or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA CFOT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install fiber optic cables, including underground and overhead installations.
  • Prepare andterminatefiber optic cables usingappropriate toolsand techniques.
  • Perform splicing of fiber optic cables as needed for project completion.
  • Ensure all installations meet industry standards and LINX quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic cable installations.
  • Conduct testing of fiber optic cables using tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
  • Document test results and ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of installations, tests, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Supervise and manage fiber optic technicians and other team members.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on fiber optic installation, termination, splicing, troubleshooting, and testing.
  • Ensure that team members follow all safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Monitorthe performance of team members and provide feedback to improve skills and efficiency
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensuretimelycompletion of projects.
  • Adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
  • Assistin planning and organizing tasks tooptimizeworkflow and efficiency
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) asrequired.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Participatein safety training and meetings asrequired.
