About The Position

Works under the general supervision of the Land Development Manager in the Engineering Division to process fiber-related permits for the City of Memphis Smart Fiber Program. Reviews administrative requests and enters, processes, and issues permits within the system. Utilizes computer applications to perform various job functions including preparing project status and financial reports. Reviews all fiber permits to ensure adherence to all city and engineering standards. Tracks and oversees progression of all issued Smart Fiber permits. Collects, downloads and updates all permit GIS system data. Reviews daily activity reports and monthly payrolls completed by inspectors for completeness and accuracy. Oversees the day-to-day activities, conducts various on-site meetings, and coordinates any field changes on site with Smart Fiber inspectors. Evaluates and audits permits and licenses for compliance and timely reporting. Assists in creating, preparing and distributing a variety of correspondence, memorandum, and reports to various internal departments and external agencies. Interprets blueprints, explains right-of-way agreements, and provides clarity on construction regulation to contractors. Inspects worksites to ensure proper execution of permits and adherence to city standards. Acts as a liaison between contractors, property owners, and internal stakeholders to resolve problems. Directs fiber inspections when necessary.
