About The Position

RK&K is hiring experienced Fiber Optic Cable Inspectors to join our team throughout the Baltimore/DC/Northern VA area. In this role, you will work on a large-scale radio, cellular, fiber communications effort throughout the metro area. Your expertise in fiber will be used to oversee termination, testing, and inspection of these complex systems, above and below ground.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of six (6) years' demonstrable experience in system safety and/or construction safety
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality standards and its application to planning, design and construction
  • Must successfully attain OSHA 10-Hour (Construction) Certification
  • Experience with core alignment fusion splicing
  • Experience with OTDR testing and how to properly set up the machine for various test conditions
  • Experience with insertion loss testing
  • Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPad
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
  • May be required to travel out-of-state to conduct manufacturer inspections of facilities and witness factory testing
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and favorable driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the installation and testing of Air Blown Fiber

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular on-site construction quality inspections for all work performed by Project Staff, Contractors and Sub-Contractors to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements
  • Work constructively with members of the project team to resolve project field-related issues and provide recommendations to key staff members
  • Maintain and monitor the performance of the project against established Key Performance Indices (KPI's)
  • Review hazard analyses by staff, contractor work plans, completeness of project work (and associated work) and quality reports
  • Attend or conduct project coordination meetings and quality meetings
  • Complete a daily work report that outlines the work completed for the day
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the Project Manager
