Assembles mechanical units or fabricated parts to create sub-assemblies or complete products within routine and repetitive assembly operations. Uses various hand and power tools and operates equipment such as jigs, dies, fixtures, templates, punch presses, riveting machines, circular shears, and drill presses to cut, file, fit, punch, ream, rivet, form, and/or assemble components. Fits, aligns, calibrates, and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product requirements. At KITCO Fiber Optics, we are a leading provider of fiber optic termination products and consulting services to the military and commercial communications industry. We specialize in the design and fabrication of fiber optic tools, tool kits, and custom cable assemblies. We also produce private label kits for a number of major connector manufacturers and sell our own broad line of products. Our field services division also performs on-site termination, splicing, troubleshooting and testing support, and our training division provides hands-on training and certification programs. We are recognized within the defense industry as fiber optic connectivity experts and, for over 20 years, have customized our products and services to meet strict military standards. Requirements

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO 9001:2015 standards preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints and work instructions
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete production documentation
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time depending on task assignment
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small parts and tools
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Visual acuity to inspect parts and read instructions
  • Tolerance for repetitive tasks in a production environment
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with moderate noise levels

Responsibilities

  • May read simple blueprints.
  • Assemble mechanical units or fabricated parts to build sub-assemblies or complete products
  • Operate hand and power tools, jigs, dies, fixtures, and production machinery
  • Fit, align, calibrate, and adjust parts to meet product specifications and tolerances
  • Perform quality checks on products and raw materials
  • Review work orders and blueprints to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Rotate through tasks in the production process to support operational flexibility
  • Determine work assignments and procedures based on production needs
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist in the production of wiring assemblies
  • Maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment
  • Complete production reports to communicate team output to management
  • Package finished products and prepare for shipment
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing
  • Adhere to ISO 9001:2015 quality management practices
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business demands.
