About The Position

The Fiber Network Field Technician is responsible for performing various tasks related to service order and repair activities on fiber network facilities. This includes work between the customer-serving terminal and the customer's premises, as well as installation activities at the fiber hub. The technician will be involved in the installation and maintenance of voice, data, and video equipment at customer locations, ensuring that all services are functioning correctly and efficiently. The role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and maintaining fiber network services, which includes installing, removing, rearranging, programming, testing, and maintaining fiber network services. In addition to technical skills, the technician will interact with customers to negotiate the placement of equipment and provide training on how to use the new equipment. Customer satisfaction is a key component of this role, and the technician must ensure that all work meets the customer's expectations. The technician will also be responsible for interpreting schematic work order drawings to determine job specifications and installation needs, ordering necessary equipment, and utilizing various test equipment to analyze and resolve equipment troubles. The position may require the technician to perform additional duties as needed, including tasks typically associated with a Customer Service Technician II classification. The technician must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle equipped with a standard (manual shift) transmission. Continuous monitoring of the employee's criminal record is required, and the technician must pass a criminal records screening process to ensure compliance with company policies.
