About The Position

Nex-Tech is looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented individual to join our growing team as a Fiber Construction Assistant. In this role, you’ll be on the front lines of deploying high-speed fiber internet to communities across our service area. Working alongside our construction teams, you’ll help build and maintain the infrastructure that powers advanced telecommunications and keeps our customers connected. This hands-on position involves site prep, equipment handling, fiber installation, and quality checks; making a direct impact on service reliability and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of fiber optic technology and installation processes
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments
• Attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
• Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate with a team
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 60 days (required)

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in construction or utilities (preferred)
• Knowledge of safety regulations and construction best practices (preferred)
• Certification in fiber optic installation or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable and related equipment
• Help prepare construction sites and set up tools and materials
• Perform quality checks to ensure work meets industry standards
• Maintain accurate logs of work completed and materials used
• Troubleshoot basic issues and support the construction team with day-to-day tasks
