Requirements

  • Must hold the proper certification and endorsements as required by the State Board of Education.
  • Qualifying License: Special Education K-12
  • Qualifying Endorsement: Generalist

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and gather/analyze data to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Commitment to the success of all students and meeting the differentiated needs of student groups.

Responsibilities

  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs and abilities of students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation as requested by the immediate supervisor.
  • Identifies students with learning problems on a regular basis and seeks assistance from District specialists as required.
  • Assists the administration in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board of Trustees' policy, and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records and inventories as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Cooperates with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities if requested.
  • Provides for professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
