About The Position

Campbell Fittings is pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting for Ferrule Cell Setup/Operators to join our team on 1st and 3rd shift. The ideal candidates for this position will have prior machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment and display mechanical aptitude.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable and efficient in working in a busy open-floor environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as individually
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend and twist throughout entire shift.
  • Prolonged periods of standing entire shift

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience certification a plus
  • Prior machine operator experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and simultaneously operate ferrule production equipment to perform blanking, rolling, welding, and forming to steel and stainless steel coil stock.
  • Adjust stock reel to feed material into blanking machine.
  • Use machine controls to determine requirements and make adjustments and/or change tools on blanking machine to feed, notch, trim, mark, and cutoff blanks.
  • Change mandrels and adjust table on roll forming machine as required.
  • Adjust heat, timing, welding gun and part location on welder.
  • Change dies, spacers, sinking noses, knockouts, and adjust unloader on forming press.
  • After blank has been ejected by the blanking machine, place blank with the marked side down into the rolling machine and press start button.
  • When rolling is completed, place the part into the welder clamping fixture and start cycle.
  • When weld is complete, visually inspect the part weld. If acceptable, place the part in finished container for sleeves or load into press if the part is a ferrule. Verify that the previous part has been unloaded before inserting the next part. Press unloads automatically. Return to the blanking machine to repeat the process.
  • Check all tooling for damage and excessive wear before set-up and at tear-down on each machine.
  • Dismantle, clean, and replace worn parts such as trim and cutoff blades, punches, and dies on blanking machine.
  • Remove, sharpen, replace, and correctly adjust welding electrode.
  • Use forklift truck to load and unload coils of material on stock reel.
  • Clean and return tooling to proper storage area after use. Keep tool storage areas clean and orderly.
  • Maintain tooling in good condition by notifying plant manager when wear or breakage occurs.
  • Replace adjustment screws, springs, bolts, and other minor parts subject to wear.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of drawing lubricant by informing plant manager when stock is low.
  • Bring empty containers for finished parts and scrap to machines and remove same to proper areas when full or job is finished using hand trucks, hydraulic pallet trucks, and forklift truck.
  • Visually inspect material for defects before operation.
  • Use rules, squares, straightedges, micrometers, and dial calipers to check work.
  • Remove burrs with belt sander and/or coat parts with drawing lubricant when necessary.
  • Adjust equipment to maintain established production rates and quality work.
  • Notify production control manager when problems occur.
  • Add hydraulic oil, drawing lubricant, and lubricate machine.
  • Remove dirt and excess lubricant from the machines and maintain the general work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Use computer system to access part prints, operating procedures, and quality assurance forms.
  • Complete required daily reporting documents.
  • Fill out setup forms for new parts and document change forms as required.
  • Attach shop tickets to finished work.
  • Account for scrap and place in proper containers.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes: 1. Mandatory: safety glasses, gloves, hard sole anti-slip shoes 2. Optional: Steel-toe shoes (toe protection shoes), hearing protection
  • Report defective materials and unusual or unsafe conditions to Production Control Manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Performs other related or additional duties as assigned.
