The Ferrous Material Handler works with Ferrous Operators to safely sort, upgrade, and process material. The position performs manual labor and outdoor work daily and may be required to work with customers, vendors, and contractors.
Move and position raw materials and finished components manually or with the help of material moving equipment where needed.
Identify and separate metals materials according to grade.
Greet and assist customers in a professional, safe, and productive manner.
Operate equipment in compliance with company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and daily inspections sheets.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment including lubricating moving parts, greasing/oiling as needed, and performing minor repairs.
Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment when needed and communicate with supervisor and/or maintenance team.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience working in an outdoor environment, subject to the elements.
Experience operating material moving equipment.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift to 50lbs.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to perform all duties while meeting safety protocols.
Knowledge of difference between ferrous and non-ferrous material.
Ability to effectively communicate with customers and resolve customer questions or complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
Constant awareness of surroundings and the ability to watch out for self and others.
Ability to arrive at work on time for all regularly scheduled shifts.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
High School Diploma and equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
