The Fermentation Process Engineer will provide essential technical support to large-scale aerobic fermentation processes at the ADM BioProducts plant in Decatur, IL. This role is critical in enhancing existing processes and offering plant engineering support for growth and innovation projects across various sectors, including human food, pet food, animal feed, and industrial products. The successful candidate will work closely with the production team to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring that clear and defined plans for continuous improvement are established. This involves utilizing structured approaches to identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and productivity. In addition to process improvement, the engineer will focus on cost management by optimizing energy inputs, maximizing product yields, improving input utilization, and minimizing waste. The role also requires active participation in compliance performance, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standards, ADM's Total Process Safety standards, and relevant food safety standards such as FAMI-QS. Environmental compliance is also a key aspect of this position, which includes understanding and adhering to regulations related to air permitting, waste management, spill prevention and control, and release reporting. The Fermentation Process Engineer will collaborate with various departments, including production and compliance, to support safety, environmental, and quality needs. This collaboration is vital for reviewing and following up on KPIs and working with department leadership to standardize these indicators across the plant. The engineer will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives and managing small projects that contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the fermentation processes.
