As a FERC Reporting Specialist, you will assist with the preparation of required Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulatory filings. Prepares and reviews supporting financial and operational documents. Coordinates with other internal departments to ensure compliance with FERC regulations. Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of FERC’s regulations under the Interstate Commerce Act, with emphasis on the title 18 CFR and the Uniform System of Accounts and ability to apply them to the Corporation's accounting and reporting activities.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
  • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
  • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
  • Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of industry accounting experience OR 3 years of "Big Four" accounting experience (Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, PwC) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or higher level degree - CPA, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years of FERC Accounting/Reporting related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews workpapers supporting financial and operational disclosures.
  • Coordinates with other departments to gather supporting documentation.
  • Submits reports to the FERC via web-based software
  • Records transactions in the FERC fixed asset ledger.
  • Assists with the preparation of new tariff filings (FERC and state)
  • Monitors internal policies and processes to determine if they follow FERC regulations; maintains the document summarizing the Corporation’s FERC compliance program.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging issues in FERC regulations; advises the Corporation’s leadership if any actions or changes are required.
  • Assists with identifying and resolving technical accounting and/or reporting issues
