Made Possible.  Printing Press Feeder     MISSION / SUMMARY: Assistant to the Pressman, assisting in all aspects to make sure the print jobs run smoothly. They understand and align business operations and the Department as they executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices and strong problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to interpret and translate designs and documentation
  • Basic mechanical ability to adjust the equipment to maximize production and ensure quality standards are met or exceeded
  • Ability to match or detect differences between colors
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships, demonstrates a positive attitude and consideration towards fellow employees and supervision
  • Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Understanding of sheetfed printing requirements.
  • Ability to inspect sheets and identify defects.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for sheeter equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow job tickets.
  • Willingness to perform maintenance and cleaning duties.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle paper rolls and sheets.
  • Strong communication skills to report issues and collaborate with the team.
  • Ability to work toward department goals and maintain quality standards.
  • Must be able to work 8 hour shifts plus overtime as required.
  • Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a printing or manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pressman
  • Team function on make-readies
  • Team function clean blankets
  • Change rollers with other crew members
  • Able to use SAP / PEAK reporting
  • Prepare paperwork for next job
  • Reviewing job ticket
  • Pulling defective sheets as required
  • Make-ready/registration for press, Wash-up of printing presses.
  • Feeder operation.
  • Keep department managers informed of safety, quality or production issues or improvement opportunities.
  • Work toward achieving department goals
  • Cleaning area around press.
  • Performing maintenance as required.
  • Delivering quality cut loads to Printing Department
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
