About The Position

The Feeder Tender supports the operation of offset printing presses used in the production of paperboard packaging. This position assists the Lead Pressman in achieving high-quality printed sheets through efficient press setup, consistent operation, and proper material handling. The Feeder Tender ensures that paper feeds smoothly through the press, maintains ink and coating levels, and monitors quality and productivity throughout the run.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in offset printing or paperboard packaging preferred.
  • Working knowledge of printing processes, paperboard materials, and color standards is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate hand tools and press-related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of printing processes, paperboard materials, and color standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Pressman with make-readies, setups, and press changeovers.
  • Load and align paperboard stock in the feeder to ensure continuous, accurate feeding into the press.
  • Monitor press operation to ensure consistent registration, color, and quality throughout the run.
  • Assist with plate, blanket, and roller changes as directed by the Lead Pressman.
  • Maintain proper ink levels and coating supplies; mix or retrieve materials as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning of press components including feeders, delivery units, and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct visual inspections of printed sheets for defects such as misregister, color variation, or contamination.
  • Help identify and troubleshoot mechanical or feeding issues during production.
  • Accurately record production data, downtime, and material usage in the production system (if needed).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Assist other press crews or departments as production needs require.
